THE INTANGIBLE HERITAGE OF GNUTS PRESIDENTIAL SEAT - SOLOMON ADOBOAH MILLS - [ THE VALUE TEAM ]

GNUTS has existed over the years as one of the largest and vibrant student union in Ghana. The Ghana National Union of Technical Students is a non-partisan student union constituting all the Ten Technical Universities in Ghana.

Due to this initiative by the government, GNUPS found it cogent to change its name to GNUTS in order to fit the current status of member institutions.

The union therefore edged its members, alumni and associates to take note of the change of name which was adopted at its First Central Committee and Mini Congress held at the Tamale Technical University, in the northern region, from 1st to 4th December, 2016. GNUTS since then has been recognized as the name of the student Union.

The history of GNUTS has been an interesting one since olden times and continues to be unique to this present day.

GNUTS is the official mouthpiece for all Technical University students in Ghana and seeks to promote positive interest of students, defend their right and ensure that students challenges are addressed amicably.

THE BIRTH OF GNUTS

The Ghana National Union of Technical Students(GNUTS) was formerly known as Ghana National Union of polytecnic Students(GNUPS). Students in all the ten polytechnics were formally recorded as members of the National Union of Ghana Students(NUGS) .

GNUPS began its activities in the year 1989 when the union broke away from NUGS due to what the leaders at that time referred to as “unfair treatment and marginalization of technical students of NUGS”.

GNUPS was formally and legally recognized and operationalized in February 2000 with its promulgated constitution at a congress held in Tamale. This congress was widely known in the student union as “Tamale Declaration”.

In the year 2013, the government of Ghana thought it prudent to convert polytechnics into Technical Universities and accordingly legislation was enacted to support polytechnic-technical university migration. The government officially declared the conversion of polytechnics into technical universities in February, 2016.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE UNION SEE ALSO

(a) To offer a common forum for the discussion of Challenges affecting Technical and Vocational Students and generally to develop a spirit of solidarity among students.

(b)To foster unity and solidarity among Technical and Vocational Students and stakeholders in its quest to achieve higher goals.

(c) To seek, defend and protect the rights of Technical and Vocational Students and influence decision and policy making to the benefit of students.

(d)To seek the rule of law in the country with particular reference to issue militating against the economy, social, cultural and the general public in order to secure peace, democracy, and socio-economic development.

TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, SHOULD STAND TO CONTEST FOR THE RIGHT OF LEADERSHIP

We students of cape coast technical university, trust and believe that, it is through unity that the interest of students shall be safeguarded, to secure the welfare and dignity of students. Chapter Two (2), Article 6, of the Student Representative Council Constitution; states the Aims and Objectives of the SRC. Forbye, section 8; states that, the SRC shall be responsible for all matters in the interest of the students. My Fellow Students, with all due respect desiring for a good, solution oriented, innovative, and Competent leader, then I present to SOLOMON ADOBOAH a level 200 Procurement and Supply Chain Management (HND).

SOLOMON has all matters concerning students interest at heart. My fellow students, he believes in all inclusive system and women empowerment and his biggest assets and strength is the ability not only to identify problems but to ultimately solve them as well. Besides, SOLOMON not been the SRC GNUTS President, HE has introduced an international exchange program in Germany, Berlin. The international Exchange program is between our noble institution and the Technical University of Berlin which comes with packages; -No Tuition fees -Visit tourist Sites Where students will traveling to Germany 🇩🇪, Berlin to Study. Please Fellow students, let support SOLOMON to continue the good work. 🙏
